Artist Statement: For me home can represent a physical place, connoting safety and security as well as a psychical space in which I can find solace in beauty and connection with loved ones. It can also be imbued with longing for the past and suffused with an awareness of the passage of time.

Artist Statement: "The Distance of Home:" Seen through rain-streaked glass, home becomes softened, distant, and uncertain. The image resists clarity, holding space between recognition and obscurity. Home is not fully grasped, but felt—shaped by memory, time, and separation. What remains is an impression, where distance does not diminish connection, but deepens it.

Artist Statement: Home is not a fixed place, but a shifting landscape shaped by memory, distance, and return. This photograph holds fragments of home that have formed me—some still recognizable, others altered by time and perception. II am not searching for what was, but for what remains: a feeling, a trace, a quiet recognition. Home exists somewhere between the seen and the remembered, where past and present briefly align.

Artist Statement: Walking through the Tuscan village of Montechiello, I came across a grouping of bird nests carefully placed on the ledge of a centuries old stone home. Each nest was uniquely formed by its winged maker with intricate design abilities endowed by their Maker. These woven “hale”(dwelling) were created who knows how long ago to keep the eggs and young birds of these "makers" a safe home...now alongside a home created to keep safe the young and old human families within.

Artist Statement: I draw inspiration from the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, with its reverence for the subtle beauty of aged things and their fleeting, transient nature. I am particularly captivated by the poetry and mystique of abandoned houses—their melancholic beauty and the memories that linger within them. Overgrown yards, dusty or broken windows, and the remnants left behind stand as silent witnesses to past lives, carrying their haunting presence and a quiet longing for life to return.

Artist Statement: When I was growing up I loved to watch (and occasionally help) my mother with the cooking. She always had a favorite towel in her apron or over her shoulder to help her hands clean. After dinner it was my chore to wash the dinner dishes. I loved to use her dish towel.

Artist Statement: Neither dog, nor the incarcerated can choose their home. In the filtered light of a crumbling room, a dog named Harvest eagerly awaits his caretaker, an inmate in Marin Humane’s San Quentin’s PenPals Program. The black and white tones highlight the stark differential between the dog’s joy and the room’s decay. Tenderness exists in unlikely surroundings, and even here, affection and trust manage to take root.

Artist Statement: I have followed in my Father's footsteps as an avid photographer. My subjects vary from wildlife to landscapes . I enjoy using digital tools in enhancing my images, and creating new worlds out of what my camera captures.

Artist Statement: Of all the iconic imagery of the American West embodying the spirit of Manifest Destiny that prevailed throughout the US in the 19th century, there is none so powerful as American Bison roaming freely in the open range. Sadly, it is that same sense of entitlement that nearly led to the extinction of the species through wholesale slaughter. The survivors descendants prove that wild places deserve to be respected as home to species other than our own.

Artist Statement: This is a photo of the upstairs rooms in Josie's mansion in Havana, Cuba. She provides access to photography workshop groups to give a sense of what it was like in the "old" days when wealthy people would vacation in Havana.

Artist Statement: As an only child growing up in a toxic home environment, I rarely felt safe so I developed a different skill set from many of my peers. I escaped into our village library for hours accompanying Dr. Doolittle and Jane Eyre on their adventures, visiting places in my imagination I would one day see. I discovered a stubborn resilience and a gift for searching out all the light that was available at any time or any place. In short, I learned to carry home inside myself and find my way safel through dark spaces.
